Highwater began as a private model, built to answer a question no consumer app could: what am I actually worth, once the vesting schedules, the fund interests, the mortgage and three currencies are all counted honestly? It worked. And it became clear that the same engine, wrapped properly, is what a lot of people want long before their finances get exotic.
Precision, then friendliness
A number that is easy to read and quietly wrong is worse than no number. The engine is mechanical about carry, tax accrual, amortization and FX first; the interface makes that legible second.
Useful from minute one
Every feature has to answer one question before it ships: what does this look like for someone who has entered nothing yet? Defaults over required fields, inference over another form.
Say what is measured
A figure written by a live feed looks different from one you assumed. Provenance is part of the design, because that is what makes the picture trustworthy.
In early access, and building in the open.
Highwater is a small, independent product, in early access rather than general release. Native mobile builds and broader bank coverage come next. If your finances are complicated in a way we do not yet handle well, we would like to hear about it.
